The Hand That Rocked His Cradle
W/B Patty Booker
His Momma did what she knew how to raise her boy up right
But he grew up with a heart of stone and lookin’ for a fight
She stayed up nights to hold him To rock his pain away
Ah but nothing could console him it hurt her more each day
Well his teacher told his Momma that little boy needs help
But his Daddy wouldn’t hear of it he said they’ve always helped themselves
So his father took the strap in hand to teach the boy what’s right
And his Momma did what she knew how and rocked him late at night
Now the Hand that rocked his cradle had to lock him out tonight
Cause ever her undieing love just couldn’t make it right
Oh and nothing can compare to the pain their feelin’ now
Cause the hand that rocked his cradle is the hand that locked him out
Now everyday his Momma prays someday to understand
Why she couldn’t save him from his own destructive hand
She’s been trying to protect him from the life he leads
Oh wash away his blood while her own heart bleeds
Now the hand that rocked his cradle had to lock him out tonight
Cause even her undieing love just couldn’t make it right
Oh and nothing can compare to the pain their feelin’ now
Cause the hand that rocked his cradle is the hand that locked him out
