Our Shangri-LA
W/B Booker & Browne
I got a fifties kitchen table, about twenty years ago
Bought it thru the Pennysaver spent thirty bucks or so
Purchased a Kenmore washer dryer a refrigerator too
Bought’m on a credit card which I’ll no longer do
Got an ole victrola cabinet from a house we use to rent
Took out all the broken parts and put my stereo in it.
Got two oak coffee tables, for only fifteen bucks
Got’m when the kids were small and now their all scratched up
No nothen here is worth much but the memories are rich
We didn’t have much money, but we earned every stich
We didn’t work to keep up, with any of the Jone’s
No nothing here is worth much but it’s our Shangrala we own it
There’s a colorful pecoso hangen over the stove
We got it from a friend of ours who didn’t want it anymore
The wall in the living room are lined with all the kids
All those little faces go from birth to adolescence
Now looken in the bedroom you’ll see an ole bed frame
I rescued from a backyard before it was thrown away.
The neighbors Grandpa died and we got the dressing table
Fixed the broken leg and now it’s really really stable
No nothen here is worth much, but the memories are rich
We didn’t have much money, but we earned every stitch
We didn’t work to keep up, with any of the Jone’s
No nothen here is worth much but it’s our Shangrala we own it
No nothen here is worth much but it’s our Shangrala we own it.
